[Solved] Re-enable Disqus in Firefox?

I have somehow managed to disable Disqus on every website in Firefox but Disqus still works fine in Chrome. Basically, all of the Disqus content on pages that have Disqus content, simply fails to appear. I must have done this in the last few days because it was working earlier this week. I’m darned if I know how I did it though.

I’ve restarted Firefox in Safe Mode and Disqus then works properly. The Disqus support site says that this indicates a problem with an add-on or extension and then lists how to fix the problem for several extensions including some Avast ones. Unfortunately, the page refers to the 2013/2014 versions of the products and the products have been significantly re-designed since then.

I’m using Avast Free Antivirus 17.4.2294. How do I make Disqus work in Firefox again when it isn’t in Safe Mode?

This has nothing to do with avast.

Look at the Disqus website or ask the Mozilla community.

Actually, it was an Avast problem.

I clicked on the Avast icon in the upper right corner of the page and saw that “Automatic blocking of trackers” was ENABLED. (Facebook, Pinterest, Disqus were all blocked as well). I clicked on “ENABLED” and it changed to DISABLED. I then had an option to Block each of the four social media entries individually. I refreshed my page and, voila, I got Disqus back.

Luckily, I didn’t take your assurance that Avast was not the problem seriously, otherwise I might never have found the problem. >:(

So the problem was the user and not avast as the last one worked as it should.

It’s hard to win an argument Eddy when the answer is there in black and white.
No one is right all the time.
