I used to have avast on all my old pcs but when i got my new one it had norton which is about to run out and i would like to use avast again.
If i remember right there are sometimes issues or conflicts when you have had norton on and i want to make sure i get it right before switching over can anybody help as to what i have to delete and from where? plz
Run the three files that you just downloaded
a) On the Windows desktop, double-click the MSIFIX icon.
Click Run.
A black window may appear very briefly.
b) On the Windows desktop, double-click the SymNRT icon.
Click Run.
Click Next.
Click I accept the License Agreement, and click Next.
Type the letters and numbers that you see in the white box, and then click Next.
Click Yes or OK at each prompt.
You may need to click more than once. Your computer may be restarted for you more than once.
You may be asked to repeat some steps after the computer restarts.
c) On the Windows desktop, double-click the SYMMSICLEANUP icon.
Click Run, and then click Yes.
Click OK.
I addition to the above, be sure to remember to download avast! (but do not install) before performing the above steps. Also, it would be a good idea to disconnect from the internet after downloading avast! and before performing the above steps.
The VERY FIRST STEP is to RIGHT- click the Norton icon in your System Tray,
selecting "Terminate" or some similiar word ( BUT NOT "Off" or "Disable" ) .
If you follow Tech’s advice, you don’t have to worry about closing or terminating the program.
Removing the program using the add/remove function, will close that portion as part of the removal process.
