Some files cannot be scanned...

due to…Error The system cannot find the path specified

I found out only recently that my gmail was hacked, so I did a virus scan after doing all the logical things like change my password and updating security and I got that error on several files such as:

c:\program files\alwil software\avast5\defs\11081300\algo.dll
c:\program files\alwil software\avast5\defs\11081300\aswcmnbs.dll
c:\program files\alwil software\avast5\defs\11081300\aswcmnis.dll
c:\program files\alwil software\avast5\defs\11081300\aswcmnos.dll
c:\program files\alwil software\avast5\defs\11081300\aswegin.dll
c:\program files\alwil software\avast5\defs\11081300\aswrep.dll
c:\program files\alwil software\avast5\defs\11081300\aswscan.dll

I had to type these by hands so I hope I didn’t make any mistakes, I’m worried that somehow this is the viruses doing if I even have one, I’m just paranoid after the hacking, can someone tell me why it didn’t scan these items?

seems you did a scan when avast have just updated and done a cleanup in the defs folder

if you reboot and scan again i guess they are gone :wink:

Nothing to worry about.
The old definitions were deleted by avast!, therefore they couldn’t be scanned anymore.

Sounds like I’m just fine then, I’m not too worried about the whole gmail hack thing now, because if Avast didn’t find any signs of a compromised computer, then I’d bet my pride on it being clean.

for a second opinion, have you run malwarebytes ?
remeber to update before you scan and you can post the log here if anything is found

I’m actually running that right now, it’s currently scanning my secondary HDD and has found nothing, so I’m not too worried but if something is found, I’ll share it.

and MalwareBytes just finished and it came back clean also, looks like I’m fine.
