After today’s definitions update, windows\soundman.exe is showing as containing malware (win32:malware-gen). The data and size is exactly the same as my other Win XP PC not running avast and that does not consider it a problem so I hope its a false positive. Coming a few days after FP for dnsrslvr.dll, I’m starting to lose confidence in avast!
Just submit it to avast! labs saying is a False Positive.

Thanks.
Already submitted (I think Avast submitted it anyway). Hope its corrected soon as my only options appear to be delete it or put up with an alert every scan.
Can’t you add soundman.exe on Files Shield exclusions meanwhile is getting corrected?
Open avast! GUI > Real Time Shields > Files Shield > Advanced settings > Exclusions > Add soundman.exe as one exclusion.
See if the problem fixes…
delete is not a good option under the circumstances.
I know this is an annoyance. Im the same at these times. but I bear with avast with others because they have been good service over the long term (around 4 years for me).
