SP2 and avast! vs 4.6 family edition

Hi!
I have a Toshiba laptop with XP Home SP2. I installed avast above mentioned: blue screen after blue screen. I uninstalled it, and no blue screen at all.
So I incriminate incmpatibility between avast and SP2.
Could you give me a help and enlighten me?
Thank you very much.

About 75% of our users use XP SP2. So this won’t be it.

Anyway, it may be an incompatibility with something else running on your machine. Do you have e.g. any other AV program installed on the machine?

Also, you could send me the contents of the \windows\minidump folder. It contains more info about the crashes.

Thanks Vlk

Well, thank you for your answer.
I installed also outpost firewall at the same time than avast.
I uninstalled both to get rid of the problem.
Should be outpost the bad guy?
As for minidump folder, with what can I open it?
Thanks again.

Outpost + avast work nicely together. Let’s see the dumps though.
What I meant is simply open the folder in Windows Explorer. There should be exactly 1 file (something.mdmp) for each crash. What I wanted you is send me a couple of the most recent files (corresponding to the crashes that occured when you installed avast and outpost).

Greetings to France,

Hi all!

I’m a new user to Avast (though I’ve used it a couple of weeks before) and I have the same problem with Firefox (or any other browsers from mozilla.org).

The specs of my computer is: XP1800+, 512mb ddr, XP with servicepack 1 (haven’t updated yet) and Avast 4.6.623.
I had Panda before but uninstalled it now. No firewall installed at all (that will come later on after I’ve got my system to work properly).

I can surf with IE but no other browsers.

I’ve also tried all the suggestions found in this discussion but nothing helps. Would really like some help due to the fact that I don’t want to use IE. :stuck_out_tongue:

//NUL

Can you invoke the program update and see if the new 4.6.639 version solves this issue?
