Speaking of AV rankings

Antimalware RU has conducted the latest in a series of tests to determine the AV’s abilities to clean an infected machine.
Worth a look, especially if you read Russian.

Near the top left of the Russian page is a button labled “English Version” and clicking that takes you to this link …

http://www.anti-malware-test.com/

… and near the top middle of that page is “Recent test Result.” Clicking that takes you down that page to the test results … but these are test results from the first quarter of this year.

Anyway, thanks for posting it, Tarq.

Hi Charley!
It’s a pity, but I must say, that the English version of that site is outdated, but the Russian version has the results dated 21.10.2008.

EDIT:

On this link, I made a translation to English from the original Russian article: http://66.102.9.104/translate_c?hl=uk&sl=ru&tl=en&u=http://antimalware.ru/malware_treatment_test_2008&usg=ALkJrhg2GcXQWY751DhlJSZCzHoUt3hu_w

This is true. The title near the top of the Russian language page, says, “Результаты теста антивирусов на лечение активного заражения (октябрь 2008)”, which, of course, means “The results of the test antivirus for treatment of active infection (October 2008)”

For folk (like myself) who actually don’t understand Russian, Google Translate appears to do a passable job of translating the page.
One of the points that will interest people here is visible in either of the two tables about two thirds down the page, showing the very large improvement made by Avast since the last test/s were run.
A truly creditable performance.

Yes, it’s relly great.

Thanks for the added info, avatar2005 & Tarq57 !

It is good to see that avast tied for second place in the latest test from Antimalware RU with only Kaspersky testing better.
