Spurious rootkit found?

I’ve just setup a brand new Lenovo ThinkCentre All-in-One, with Windows 8.1. Avast said that there is a rootkit problem in one of the Lenovo supplied packages (C:|Program Files\VolumeControl\VolumeCtlSrv.exe. Initially I responded with “Fix automatically”. I also was asked about running a boot time scan - I allowed this twice - nothing found! But I keep getting messages about there being a rootkit problem. I have now done scans of the problematic file, with Avast and also with Malwarebytes. No threat detected! What’s going on here?
