Spy ware

I have spyware that has effected 3 system files. Is there a way to uncorrupt these files?

Did you have avast installed before the files get infected?
Which are the name and the path of the infected files?
Are you running XP?
Which program did you use to detect the spyware?
Which are the name of the spyware?

Sorry… need info to help

No, I did not have avast before it got infected…It happened after my first scan with avast. I am running XP. System files infected that are listed in the virus chest are: kernel32.dll, winsock.dll, and wsock.dll.
The files listed as infected in the chest as well are A012671.ocx and cpbrkpie.ocr.

Any ideas?

Oh yeah the properties list the virus description as Win32: Adware gen
Thanks for your help!

Infected?
Of just there for backup purposes…? What happened if you right click them and scan them, are they infected?

There are many sections in the chest the System Files section contains back-ups of essential system files as Tech said, so if your files are in that section they aren’t infected. Infected files are stored in the Infected Files section.

There is also a User Files section this is where you can place files that you suspect are malware that hasn’t been detected by avast, this stops the suspect file from doing any harm and gives you time to investigate.
