Hello. My mother just called me at 12:00 AM EST and told me that while she was visiting a website for a broker in North Carolina, she was prompted to install ActiveX controls needed to make the site run. She’s telling me that she didn’t at first try to install it (she’s wary of these types of things), and then she ended up with a message saying to stop the download/installation of the ActiveX control because it was spyware or a trojan of some sort. She believes that these warnings were given by SpyShredder, which is spyware from what I’ve found on the internet, and she’s getting multiple warnings from this source, and her Avast! system is now all messed up, and it’s saying she’s got viruses and trojans, and backdoors.
The names of the viruses, etc that have come up:
WIN32:Dialer-G(Trj), WIN32:Small-IKO(Trj)
Backdoor:WIN32/NTRoot, Backdoor: WIN32/Sivuxa,
Trojan.Caiijing
She gets a warning that pops up that is red and blue from Quick Systems Scan Results that is regarding “Harmful and malicious software detected.” And then something about an online program protection scanner. She gets the options to “ignore” or “remove all”. When she does remove all, all the warnings come back up.
She started to hit “ignore” and “cancel” to all the popups from this backdoor/SpyShredder warnings.
My mom also said that on the Avast! Access Scanner, in the Residential Protection, this website is shown:
http*://*www.siiprogram.com/*download.php?id=*129 (asterisks used to disable)
We live in the united states, so calling the number from the website that goes to Prague isn’t really an option, and she can’t email them because her computer is acting up so badly.
If anyone can tell us anything about this, or what to do and how to get rid of it, that would be appreciated!
Thanks!
