Anyone know how spyware blaster actually “blocks” malware. Because when I ever check on task manager, its never shown as a running process. :-\
The malware sites are blocked by immunization. The sites are added to Restricted Zone into the browser settings. The info is saved into Windows Registry and accessed any time the browser opens a site.
Hi :
MAY want to consider reading through its “Tutorial” at
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial49.html !?
Since someone made this topic
I wanted to ask how could i disable flash content if i didnt have spywareblaster?
kinda noobish question but hopefuly you wont mind :
Even if you had spywareblaster it doesn’t block flash content, unless that content came from a blocked site.
That is the task of your browser some you can block all flash, you can also use other blockers and in firefox you can use the NoScript add-on to achieve this, see image.
The ability to disable Flash is built in to the current version of Firefox:
Tools > Add-ons > Plugins > Shockwave Flash > Disable
Perhaps one our knowledgeable IE users can tell you how to do that in IE.
I don’t like totally disabling flash (as in the disable plug-in) in some cases you may want to view it, and with NoScript if you click on the NoScript place holder where the flash object would be displayed it allows you to view it.
Me neither, David. That’s how I handle Flash in Firefox too. I was just giving Otaku Ichise another way to disable Flash. 8)
I know others have their opinions, but I’m just giving another option. By using Avant Browser http://www.avantbrowser.com, you can disable flash, pictures, scripts, etc. etc. if you want.
It runs off of IE’s browsing engine, so if you hate IE, I don’t recommend it. If not, it’s worth a try.
As I’ve explained before, the browser was great when I first tried it, now when I download it on a new computer, there’s a lot of configuration that I have to do to get it how I like. I guess it’s all how you want your browser to look and act though.
Just a suggestion…
I use Avant also as my secondary browser, for its ease of use in toggling off/on certain security settings rather than try to dig them out if the IE security settings, etc.
Well this wasnt a mater of security, its just my sister have a portable net with limit trafic of 3gb (yes it major sucks) and my sister is very noobish when i said online videos of youtube count as transfer, anyways when i disabled content flash today in my spywareblaster to test it out, every video flash online wasnt showing up, i think it was doing well the job?..
On note: i never thought IE7 browser was so weak to not be able to disable flash content XD, gess only spywareblaster can help it at least a litle.
Has anyone noticed 4.2 takes longer to show?
Earlier versions came up much quicker so I could up update or whatever.
4.2 opens almost instantly, like previous versions. and I don’t have a state-of-the-art computer.
Toggle Flash add-on for IE7/IE8 places a button on the tool bar that enables you to quickly turn on/off Flash (requires .NetFramework 2.0).
Almost instant when I click the shortcut I have to launch it.
Thank you, Jahn. Toggle Flash makes IE almost tolerable. ;D
So can anyone test for me if it works on your Internet explorer too? eitheir XP or Vista
on me it was blocking everything of flash so far.
Adiotional question: is it possible to block downloads except the web content transfer?
