Standard Shield Scan executed question

Hi-

I had to turn off the “Scan executed files” option on the Standard Shield to avoid a frequent problem with SONAR (audio app). The On-Access scanner ball would keep revolving and eventually SONAR would crash.

All I really want to exclude from the scan are .dll files. Is this possible?

Thanks-

Sure:

For the Standard Shield provider (on-access scanning):
Left click the ‘a’ blue icon, click on the provider icon at left and then Customize.
Go to Advanced tab and click on Add button…

For the other providers (on-demmand scanning):
Right click the ‘a’ blue icon, click Program Settings.
Go to Exclusions tab and click on Add button…

You can use masks to the exclusions, i.e. something like
c:\program files\Sonar*.dll

The Standard Shield certainly shouldn’t cause such problems.
What operating system do you use?
What is the exact crash message?
If you check the On-Access Scanner console and watch the “Last scanned” item of the Standard Shield - what is being scanned when you start Sonar?

Tech, using *\bsdhooks.dll mask is not a good idea since this involves ALL files named like this in ALL possible locations. Quiet unsafe…

I doesn’t happen every time I run SONAR, just when I insert certain VST plugins, and not always then, either.

I’ll leave the Scanner running and note when it happens again.

You’re right. This is not a good example and method. I’ll change these posts.
