Start Up Scan Problems

A tech support friend of mine suggested avast for safety. There weren’t problems before I installed the free version (which makes me completely regret trying this product), so there isn’t likely an underlying issue causing this.
The issue:
I ran the startup scan, it finished a few hours later and said something like ‘scan complete, press escape to start computer’. I did this but it didn’t respond, so I did a manual restart (by holding down the power button on the front of the tower). Now the computer is turning on, but I cannot tell what is happening because the monitor isn’t receiving signal.
I called Avast tech support and they claimed that this is something that has never happened before, suggested I pay ~$180 to speak with an engineer, and became nearly hostile when I told them that I shouldn’t have to pay to speak with someone to fix this problem. I don’t think that avast is creating a ‘ransom’ scenario like some other people on reddit and other message boards think, I just want to move past this problem. Please help.

Don’t pay when help is free here.

Is this your scenario? http://www.avast.com/faq.php?article=AVKB11#artTitle

Did you completely remove your old antivirus before installing avast!?

A certified malware expert has been contacted for you. Please be patient.

I won’t pay, I know better than that. The phone number I called was in the help section of the Avast website.
This isn’t about that though, I just need to get my computer running again.

I cannot get to my desktop. When I start the computer, the monitor never goes on (it just says, 'no input signal, monitor is going to sleep).
Like I said above, I think the start up scan is running and the not turning the monitor on, but I cannot tell because, well, the monitor isn’t coming on.

Edit:
I see what you are saying. I’ll put this on a memory stick from my laptop and boot my PC from it, is that right?

Do you have a second monitor to test, are all the cables securely connected

I tested my monitor on anther PC and that monitor on the bugged PC. I also tested the video card and that is working properly as well.
The problem isn’t the monitor or the video card, the start up scan is likely bugged out and not letting the operating system load properly. Can I reset the boot process by resetting the mother board? If so, how?

If you use the programmes I have given you we will bypass windows and get into the system at a low level
