Apparently I have a stealth virus embedded in DragWait.exe on my Asus laptop. Avast finds it with every scan. My system is notably slowed down. Despite having selected every action possible in succession (Delete, Repair, Move to Chest), nothing is working. Same results with a boot scan. The virus remains. What to do? Uninstall Avast and use different a/v software?
Avast finds it with every scanwhat is the message from avast? .... you may attach a screenshot
follow instructions here https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0
attach Malwarebytes / Farbar Recovery Scan Tool / aswMBR logs
Make that a root kit instead of stealth virus
upload DragWait.exe to www.virustotal.com if tested before, click rescan … post link to scan result here
Although I have my system set to display hidden files, the hidden DragWait.exe will not un-hide so that I can submit it for examination.
It is a legitimate ASUS file file, next time it alerts select ignore
if in correct location (so it seems) it should be OK http://processchecker.com/file/DragWait.exe.html

there is also a topic at Geeks2Go (from 2012) where avast detected it
