Hello guys ! On Friday there was an APB Reloaded update (game) , after it was done my avast pooped out with communication that he found a virus in it , after this it restarted my pc and scanned it and no virus was found. After i logged on my pc account i lunched steam. There was an update. After it was done avast pooped out again this time saying that steam is infected. When i looked into quarantanne there was a virus called Win32 Malware Gen.
I’ve reinstalled steam and this game. Now everything works fine. I’ve scanned my pc with Malwarebytes anti-malware and nothing was found , i’ve also scanned my pc with avast and other programmes and no virus was found.
What is the file name and location of the detected file ?
Have you tried a forum search on the file name as there were some steam topics relating to FPs recently and those were fixed. Ensure that you have the latest virus definitions and scan the file again.
If still detected:
You could also check the offending/suspect file at: VirusTotal - Multi engine on-line virus scanner and report the findings here, post the URL in the Address bar of the VT results page. You can’t do this with the file securely in the chest, you need to Open the chest and right click on the file and select ‘Extract’ it to a temporary (not original) location first, see below.
Create a folder called Suspect in the C: drive. Now exclude that folder in the File System Shield, Expert Settings, Exclusions, Add, type (or copy and paste) C:\Suspect*
That will stop the File System Shield scanning any file you put in that folder.
The name of the file was vsdlib_s.dll and it was detected here C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam . But after the reinstallation of the whole platform my avast doesn’t show it again. I’ve also used this page to scan my steam folder : http://virusscan.jotti.org/pl and nothing was found.
I use avast ver.6 , so i’ll update it and scan again.
This was the file previously detected, which should have been resolved. So your reinstall loks like it contains a virus definitions version after the signature correction.
It isn’t so much the program version (though the latest is 7.0.1456), but the virus definitions version (currently 120730-0) that needs to be updated.
