Stop Error Message

Hey guys Im back working on my Grandmas computer and have stopped windows from automatically rebooting after the blue screen and this is the stop Error message ive been recieving I have been unable to find anything myself though on google but Ill let you guys look at it

*** Stop 0x0000007E (0xC0000005, 0xF76FC756, 0xF7977430, 0xF7977126)

Well I don’t know what your google search string was. But, if you included the full text above I doubt it would be very many hits as the information contained in the (brackets) is very change able.

You could try the stop error on its own and perhaps with the first and then with the first and second numbers in the ( )s, which may return more specific information.

Hey, thanks I found the problem awhile ago my grandma had recieved Xp service pack 3 through automatic updates so I searched for a cure and found one all I had to do was change a value in the registry but now another problem I am having is trying to optomize her pc Her startups are slow as heck and I mean REALLY slow Ive even removed all the unneeded startup programs and its still slow ive defraged the hard drive as well as the registry and ran multiple virus scans as well Ive also cleaned out the temporary files with Ccleaner

Care to share the registry fix as you never know it might help others.

the registry fix? sure heres the link, sorry I didnt post it before

theres the link, for the record I used method one and It worked fine

But any clue how to help me speed this up on startup? Ive tried everything I Know of and tis not worked but Im sure you guys know alot more tricks than I do

thanks

There really are too many permutations to even know where to start, but cleaning out non-essential applications on start-up is the best idea, windows and security applications only.

 Hey guys, just wanted to thank you for posting this thread and fix to 0Xf7977430, 0X0000007E. I changed out the motherboard on Compaq Presario M2000 this morning, but got blue screen all day. Turned out to be a different processor that made me change the registry value from 1 to 4. Thanks Again! Andy
