Just after I exited the Internet, the rather strange message shown in the attached screenshot appeared on my screen. I've seen this message a couple of other times, but have no idea what it means or if it is indicative of something serious.
Any help in explaining what this message is and whether or not it presents any system/security risks would be greatly appreciated.
Repetition is a creature of habit. That is probably all there is to it. Also the topic of k-a-rma is, i believe a cultural one. (and the forum replaces the a in the word to an @ - which then translates to an old system of points that has since been abandoned here)
So back on topic…
I don’t have any working knowledge of Outlook, but for those that do, these questions may be helpful.
Is there any error report within Outlook for this “serious error”?
Does it still occur or was it a one time thing?
Does the add-in work now, or not?
I did try the Start > Run > outlook/safe procedure. I received an error message that stated Windows could not find it, and to check the spelling, etc. I do not use Outlook (at least not that I'm aware of). (For spg SCOTT: I can only answer your 2nd question. The particular message I posted about is one I've only seen a couple of times in the past. I also don't have a working knowledge of Outlook either).
I just wanted to ensure the message didn’t involve some security issue that I need to address.
The issue can be due to the corrupted ashoutxt.dll file in avast!. So what you need to do is, to do a complete re-installation from scratch. It will fix it.
Thanks for the additional info. Could you please direct me as to how to completely remove the Avast free I have and then re-install it again? (I seem to recall seeing something once that I need to use some kind of Avast removal tool in order to completely remove everything from the computer before doing a clean re-install).
Just a normal uninstall reboot and reinstall should be fine, your last post mentioned that it all worked fine when you tried again so it might of just been a glitch.
