Strange behavior on some websites !

Hello,

i’m using Avast! familly as antivirus software, and since 2 days i have a strange behavior of the web protection for some websites !

I’m playing on some online game and the website is blocked by the web protection, it gives me DNS error in Internet explorer or Firefox when i try to access it !!

First i though it was the website who was down, but when i terminate the Web protection of avast!, the website works perfectly !! That’s just insane, why do avast! prevent me to see some website ?? It’s not even porn or gambling website, it’s just a free game !

If i try to ping the website it’s working perfectly, it’s just blocked by the antivirus in the navigators …!

My Avast! Webshield version is : 4.7.1001
The website : http://www.mondocuisto.com

Thanx for your answers if you have some

Sorry, at the moment all I can report is that with the Webshield active (4.7.1001 home edition) I have no problem in accessing this Website with either Firefox or IE.

avast does not intercept your DNS accesses - so I find it hard to see how this blocking could be avast. Which firewall are you using?

I’m using Kerio Personal firewall.

And it’s very strange because the website is showing perfectly when i disable the webshield. Immediatly after i put it on, the website give me just a DNS error.

What sensitivity do you have Webshield set at?

I just tried it at Normal and High; with both settings I have no problem with the website you provided in either Firefox or IE.

Are you using any proxy for Web access?

Hmmm … after contacting the website owner, it looks like they had a load balancing problem with their servers …

What is strange for me is that the website started to answer each time i was removing the webshield !! :frowning:

Sorry about this, and thank you much for your answers and for this very nice free ANTIVIRUS software !!

Best regards.

Glad you got that straightened out. Obviously a freak coincidence-of-timing is normally way down at the bottom of the list when you’re running through possible causes, but it sounds like this was definitely one of the rare ones and totally messed up the usual troubleshooting routines.
