strange icon in system tray (Avast?)

Sometimes, when sending email I see an icon in my system tray which i cannot identify, nor can I left- or rightclick it.
I think it is Avast scanning an email, but i’d like to be sure.
It looks like a letter (envelope) with a blue siren in front of it.

Anyone have a clue?

It is the icon, indicating email is being scanned.

Is possible to desactivate the email icon scanner.
Please, if you like, view the settings of the email provider.

Good Bye!

Ok, thanks. The icon doesn’t bother me, I just wanted to be sure it is from Avast. And now I am.
Thanks.

If you want more settings and tweaks of avast, take a look into ‘Settings’ in my signature

How come we can’t disable the mail scanner icon ? Since Avast! updated to version 4.5, this annoying icon keeps appearing and disappearing each second for about 5-10 times. I set the ShowTrayIcon option to 0 and hope it won’t appear again.

I think we should be able to disable the mail scanner icon, and others, from the Avast! preferences.

  1. You can disable it, all you need to do is look at the Internet Mail provider advanced settings, see attachment.

  2. It is only displayed during email scanning and is not a fixed systray icon.

Some settings require a boot to work.
Others require the provider to be restarted (shutdown or pause and then restart).
Anyway, see what David posted… I think it answers your question.
