I am working on a clients computer. At first I thought it had a virus. Then a bad hard drive. I have never run into this problem before. I believe it is a virus, but no virus or any other malware or worms, rootkits, etc are ever detected.
The computer has been running a DSL internet connection, XP firewall, free Avast with occasional spybot search and destroy and malwarebytes scans.
What this computer is doing is like the older virus a few years ago that would just show up on your computer and install itself and run a fake scan of viruses it said you had x number of viruses on your computer and to remove them you were to pay a fee.
While it was doing this scam on you it would disable any security and anti virus software. It also disabled services so you couldn’t remove it.
This is not that bad, but is just about. It disables almost all of the services down to just a few. After you get onto what it is doing and get the computer working again, it staerts disabling services again!!!
All the while, even off the internet, and now with lots of virus scans, nothing is found. HELP!!!
