I recently got Avast ultimate for android to use the vpn to watch geo restricted content. That works just fine on my tablet and mobile. Now I would like to stream it from my tablet to my tv using the Chromecast I already have in place. That didn’t work at all. Neither with streaming straight out of the application nor mirroring the tablet. As soon as I turn the vpn off everything works just fine.

No, there is not.
When you activate a VPN (any VPN, not just the one from Avast), you virtually “take the device out of your internal network”, meaning that the devices in your internal network cannot communicate with your device (Chromecast with phone) and vice versa. Unfortunately, this is how the VPN technology works, thanks for understanding.
