I downloaded Avast Free and Avast Clean, when I ran Avast Clean it said I need to run in safe mode and now im stuck at windows 8 login screen because it is saying my password is wrong to log onto my PC.
My password is only a 4 Digit number for the sake of kids not playing with my PC, so it is not me using wrong password.
I never got to installing the Avast only the Avast Cleaner thinking it was something other than cleaner for Avast. After it asked If I wanted to go safe mode I pressed Ok and since then I have not been able to get past the login screen.
I have tried to fix it with Windows 8 install disk but none of the options are working. I get the message that the place windows is installed is locked by a antivirus program.
My PC also have Malwarebytes installed and HitmanPro, but they have worked very well so far. Was going to use Avast as the AV since I have no AV installed.
If you don’t have a cleaner like CCleaner http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds (select the Slim version on the bottom) and download it if you don’t already have it on your machine to get rid of cache and temp. internet files.
Install Avast as a Custom install; only install the things you want and need, then reboot. You don’t need the Avast Clean with CCleaner, so do not install it. Perhaps this caused the problem or if you upgraded Avast from a previous version this caused a problem, or if you had remnants of another AV or security software on your machine that can also cause a problem. We may never know.
Try doing this and let us know if this solves the problem.
What security software do you have on your machine (AV, firewall, other security software) - both now and in the past. If in the past, how did you remove it?
I have tried to recover my PC to old point even by starting from BIOS to DVD drive. I have also tried to reinstall windows 8 but it will not let me. Everytime it say the place with Windows is locked by a AV. I have two HDs and im thinking if only I could make the windows 8 install on the second HD I could get into my PC and perhaps delete the problems.
Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them. Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.
Boot from the CD Windows 8 screen shots
When you reboot you will see this.
Select the language on this screen and keyboard on the next
The notepad opens. Under File menu select Open.
Select “Computer” and find your flash drive letter and close the notepad.
In the command window type e:\frst64.exe and press Enter Note: Replace letter e with the drive letter of your flash drive.
The tool will start to run.
When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
In Command I get to the part where I type in flash drive location but I get this error message
“G” is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
Im running with Windows 8.1 version 6.2.9200
My X have sources written after it and not windows all though the cmd window has same text in the top blue part as the pictures you have posted.
I fixed it! Me and nobody else found the problem! (just joking ofc)
It was the noob (me) sitting in my chair punching in a 4 digit number to log in when windows 8 ran in SAFE MODE wanted me to punch in the Microsoft account password and NOT the 4 digit pin code I had made.
So I have learned a lot about how to fix many kinds of problems that I didn’t have and use the Command prompt and been guided professionally here on Avast and I thank you all for that.
Unfortunately I figured it out after unplugging the System Disk and installing Windows 8 on my second disk there by losing around 500gb of data. So when the new install asked me to make a Microsoft account using my email and password, it slowly dawned on me (very slowly) that maybe just maybe this was the password I should have used with SAFE MODE
When next I plugged the “problem” disk back on and used the Microsoft account password I got in with no problems and there was Avast Uninstall program waiting for me to finish installing it. Since I never needed it in the first place I discontinued the AvastClean install.
Well once more thanks a lot for you guys time and efforts in helping me and I am so sorry to have been a fool. Of course I could blame it on the heat, yes I will do that :-[
I’m so glad your problems are now resolved and that you were able to fix it! Congratulations. Enjoy your machine now and safe surfing. Let us know if we can help you again in the future.

Similar to using an extension cord that's plugged into a dead socket and wondering why the lamp doesn't light.
Even replacing the light bulb didn't work. :)
Glad to hear you problem is finally solved. :)
You should now have gained enough knowledge to help some other less knowledgeable folks. :)
