Stucked at Windows 7 welcome screen unless Avast is disabled

I have to go to safe mode and disable Avast through msconfig. This started to happen about a month ago, I have already tried uninstalling Avast using the removal tool provided by Avast and then reinstall it, but no luck. My windows 7 is always updated, not really sure whats going on.

Also, in my events viewer, these two errors keeps on showing up:

  • The Network List Service service depends on the Network Location Awareness service which failed to start because of the following error:
The dependency service or group failed to start.

  • DCOM got error “1084” attempting to start the service WSearch with arguments “” in order to run the server:

Did you know that System Restore is disabled?

If you did not do this intentionally, please check the following:

Go to Start and type System in the search box.

Click on System (under Control Panel or Settings) and then on System Protection.

Click on Configure and then select Turn on system protection.

Click Apply and then OK.

In the System Protection screen, is Protection now On for the drive?

Please go to START (Windows Orb) >> Control Panel >> Uninstall a Program or Programs and Features and remove the following (if listed):

Fraps
Yahoo! Messenger

To do so, left clicking on the name once and then click Uninstall/Change at the bar above the list window.

Follow the prompts of the uninstaller BUT please read carefully any questions it asks before answering; some uninstallers will try and deceive you into keeping the software.

NOTE. It’s important that both files, FRST64 and fixlist.txt are in the same location or the fix will not work.

Start FRST that is on the desktop by right clicking on file and selecting “Run as Administrator…” and press the Fix button just once and wait.

If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
When finished FRST will generate a log on the Desktop (Fixlog.txt). Please post it to your reply.

Thank you! I will do what you have instructed, but I think for now I have fixed it. Heres what I did:

  1. Uninstalled Avast using the Avast uninstall tool.
  2. Restarted windows.
  3. Cleared the registry using CC Cleaner to make sure theres no more avast related stuff in the registry.
  4. Deleted the Avast folder in the Program files. I thought that the avast uninstall tool would delete this folder, when I checked it, it contains some old files.
  5. Restarted windows.
  6. Installed Avast. Logged in to my Avast account in Avast anti virus program.
  7. Restarted windows.

I have restarted windows multiple times as well as shut it down. Seems to be working correctly now.

Cool; glad your system and Avast are working together again. The steps I outlined are general repair steps so it is up to you if want to run them or not.
