I understand Avast bought out AVG last year.
QUESTION: Does Avast subscribe to the same outsourced support company that AVG uses?
WHY: I bought AVG last year, and this spring when there was an update, I could not access the Internet, nor get email. AVG reported the DNS were ll bad, and that the mail server certs were wrong. Ergo, I had to disable AVG in order to browse the net, or get email, then turn it back on.
AVG support logged in to my comp, did what I already did as previously instructed by them, and upgraded the issue to “senior tech”. They repeated this process 7 times in two weeks. When that didn’t work, they passed it to development department, then to a level 2 dev, then level 3 dev, all of which did the exact same thing the others did. After I called, and paid for the LD calls, 10 of them over 3 weeks,) I got an email that instructed me to do what I did the first time I called. They started all over again.
Meanwhile, my license was eroding, my security was zero, and I got nothing back but the same email to re-try what everyone else did. I think if I renewed the license, I’d be wasting money - again.
SUMMARY: If Avast bought out AVG, it strongly suggests Avast uses the same people, the same lame processes and with the same ending - full circle. If Avast uses the same out-sourced support people, I’ll look elsewhere.
