Hi gardenlen,

You can run all programs in safe mode. Use the other computer to download all four programs needed, and transfer them over to the sick computer.

Safe Mode means only Windows is running, and no other normal start-up programs will be running while in there. Logs produced can be transferred back to the good computer and attached/uploaded in your next reply. Do not attempt to fix anything, wait for the malware expert to come in and join your thread. Suggest to not make any changes to sick computer unless instructed to do so.

If you have installed AdAware, as in an active antivirus program, and have Avast! installed as as an active antivirus program as well, that is probably not a good idea. Wait for the malware expert to join, you may have to wait a few hours for that to happen.

Please attach these logs as soon as you can.

g’day asyn,

sorry my friend i tried safe mode nothing will open and i have to use power button on back of machine to turn machine off

this is something i have never experienced in 15 years of online

If you mean AdwCleaner....you will see a uninstall button when you open it ;)

sorry for getting spelling of your name wrong asyn,

pondus it is ad-aware and i tried uninstall it won’t do it because it says it is still actively running how can i tell it to stop running

yesterday we deleted not uninstalled (it sweetpack wouldn’t allow that) firefox and thought we had a win but today sweetpack is doing it best sorry worst

so we are still in trouble with this just over 12 month old win7 machine that we paid new $1500AUD for and now they tell us through no fault of our own we have to pay between $80AUD and $230AUD. we are pensioners scrapping through we cannot afford that sort of money our internet doesn’t cost that much a year on pro-rata

still need help

many thanks

some info in Lavasoft forum

and more here

i can’t go to control panel and use remove software that won’t work because of sweetpack

can’t go to safe mode nothing there will work same reason

so right now maybe it is ad-aware causing our issues who knows only the software righters who give us no option to stop it running ir unistall it though it is still running?

getting very frustrating

len

just a question that may be classed as stupid?

why won’t avaste help me i got this virus thing while using their protection??

hi gardenlen,

Care to share how you fixed it? What happened to you might help another resolve their issues sooner rather than later.

Glad it is fixed. ;D

BTW, only a certified malware expert is qualified to completely tackle issues such as yours. I am not such. Feel free to come back here for any help in the future, and attach your logs so that the expert guiding you can propose a permanent fix for you.

Just pick up where you left off here if anything comes up in the future.
