Sync my Avast Passwords to the new device isn't working!

I have Avast Pro Antivirus and it was installed on my old PC, where I performed the synchronization and backup of avast password data. That old PC has stopped working, so I needed to buy a new one, and I’m trying to sync the new PC with my Avast Passwords account, but it gets stuck in the next step after allow syncing to this PC using the 6-digit code. What can I do to recover my passwords?

Hi,

Could you have a look at this article, please?

Thank you very much for the reply, but I still get stuck on the next step after “an authorization code is sent to your email. Retrieve the 6-digit code from your email, then enter the code into the Avast Passwords text box to synchronize your devices”.

As I said earlier, my old PC has stopped working, so I just can’t confirm the change (Avast account password) from it.
When I select the option “Don’t have another synced device?”, the Avast asks me to enter my previous Avast account password, but it’s shown as incorrect.

What can I do?

Hi,

You could try to restore the passwords from the backup you created (April,7,2019).
Please follow the steps as mentioned in this guide.

Hi,

Well, unfortunately I don’t think I received the email with the subject “Your backup identity”, I only received one to verify my email on April 6th.
I received another email on May 29, but to reset the password.

Hi,
please note that
the password should be the one associated with your Avast Account when you originally set up Avast Passwords synchronization.
It will not work with any other subsequent Avast account password.
If you do not remember the original password then the other option would be to reset your Avast Passwords account.
However, you will lose all stored password data (from backup).

Hi,
oh, I see :-
The sad thing is, I changed the password using my old device, and it’s for this reason that I didn’t realize I could lose everything if I didn’t remember the first password. I’m sure I didn’t receive the email with my backup identity, so it all went wrong for me.

Hi,
To clarify the “Your backup identity” email.
Not all users would have this email. It depends if you were on the old system or the new system.
The new system was implemented around January 2019. Most users were migrated to the new system.
