taskbar icon frozen

I am running Avast version 214.9.0.2018 on Windows 7 (64 bit).
Earlier this week I renewed Avast. Since that time the Avast taskbar icon is frozen. It will not accept a mouse right click or a mouse double click.
All the other taskbar icons operate normally.

  • Other security related software installed…??
  • Which AV(s) did you use before avast!..??

See if a repair solves the problem.

I am running Avast Pro.
I have run Avast for several years now.
No other security software installed.

  1. Download avast! Pro Antivirus: http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_pro_antivirus_setup.exe
  2. Follow instructions: http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed avast! versions…!!)
  3. Reinstall avast! with the downloaded installer from point 1.
  4. Reboot.

Running the uninstall followed by a new install seems to have resolved the issue.
