Tech Support -- Contact nekvapil

It was suggested by Para-Noid that I contact a nekvapil on this forum with the following info.

Had a virus on my computer yesterday the 7th of Nov. Had to contact tech support and had to renew another year of support for $143 before I talked to support. A tech by the name of Dan was assigned to fix my computer. After about 2 hours or so he said he was done. But he is a far cry from being so. I have had a tech work on my computer in the past with NO problems. But this time for some reason I lost my internet connection and cant’ get it back. Plus I lost the ability to open several other programs. The big loss is my genealogy file containing over 15 different files and photos and over 20 plus years of work. Due to the fact that I can’t even get online there is no way of contacting tech support and them getting back online to fix it now. I am open for any and ALL suggestions as to how to handle this. I dare say I am wondering if in fact he did get the virus deleted as he said. Since the internet was working until he rebooted the computer when he was done. That is when the ability to get online ended.

One other thing I might add just for the record, I do have my genealogy and some other items backed up online by Carbonite.

I think that the suggestion would have been to contact him by email, rather than hope he actually sees your post in the forums, which can get very busy.

Vojta Nekvapil - Third-party Support Manager, nekvapil(at)avast(dot)com has requested info about 3rd party support issues, so if you have time to recount your experience (copy and paste your post give the link to this topic, etc.).

I suggest you follow the instructions:

Let’s see if we can solve things for you.
Help here is free

Thanks DavidR I reread and did email. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

No problem, hopefully it will be resolved soon and to your satisfaction.

In the meantime - Having had a virus on your system, which you say wasn’t resolved - you should follow up on Eddy’s link and follow the instructions there so qualified malware removal specialists can take a look at the logs.

Thanks for all of the help and suggestions guys. I just got off of the phone with Avast and the condition was COMPLETELY fixed to my satisfaction. It paid to send an email to nekvapil. Rec’d a phone call this morning while in church to call them ASAP.

You’re welcome, glad that it has been resolved to your satisfaction.
