telnet

hi
i have just been looking at a few things on the computer,
one being the telnet protocol.

As a security caution i have read to —unset ntlm logging

this would mean that no authentication is needed to login???

how does this provide security…???

cheers

Hi Squidhead,

Whenever a service or protocol is not needed perse on a system, leave your fingers from it. Telnet is a protocol that has security implications as have all server/client protocols. You could read more about it here: http://tn3270.umsystem.edu/en/help/tlsoverview.html
You could consider Putty, but again if you do not need servers/clients run, stay away. Every extra service you run is an added security risk period.
