Temp.Disable Avast

Hi
I am running avast 4 on vista 32-bit but I am upgrading to wind. 7,it states I have to disable before I install and then enable when done, being a complete newbie I cannot see how to do it,could someone please help me -----thanks

You don’t have to disable it. Only A/V’s like norton or mcafee do things to screw up OS installations.

Actually, I think it would be a good idea to uninstall avast! and reinstall it again after the update.
Changing the OS may turn a low-level program (like an antivirus) unworkable - because it uses different drivers for different operating systems, so after you change the OS, the corresponding drivers would be missing (i.e. you’d have a corrupted installation).

OK, avast! uses the same drivers for Vista and Windows 7, as far as I know (unless you change to a 64bit version of the OS, of course) - so it COULD work… but still, it’s kinda “big change”.

Some people who are upgrading report having problems on the SevenForums. Always do a clean install if you can.

Always do a clean install if you can.

I second that.
