I typically clean out my TEMP files every 2 weeks. I note that there is a file named avast4 that was removed too the recycle bin. This file has a delete protection on it. Is this an important file and if it is why is it in the TEMP files which are a garbage dump for zipfiles and other “temporarily” used files? >:(
avast providers uses that temporary file. If you delete it, it should be restored by avast.
Anyway, not all in temporary files are garbage, they’re temporary, not garbage. You shouldn’t worry that much about that file. Which program are you using to clean the temp folder?
I don’t have that file in my temps and I’m using CCleaner.
However, I also run a few clean up utilities so any one of them could also be the culprit. ??? ??? ???
I use ccleaner and ATF-cleaner by Tribune. I also monthly perform a cleanboot process to keep the machine in good working order along with weekly maintenance programs. I rarely have trouble with this system and I am in better working order than many win xp users out there. I check TEMP file every two(2) weeks at least. I try to keep this machine in pristine shape. I note that many of the AV vendors are using this TEMP file and that is ok as long as I do not remove something that is needed. As far as worry about the file, when I first learned about this many windows machines were slowing down to a crawl and people were abandoning them because of autostart/runs and junk hidden in files like the temp that were hang-on spyware etc. picked up in the early 2k era. >:(
