I would like to temporarily turn off my free version of avast in order to try installing a program. I cannot figure out how to do that. Could somebody help me with that? I am sorry to ask such a stupid question. Thank you!
Whilst it is relatively easy to do (this should only be done for exceptional circumstances) - right click on the avast tray icon, avast! shields control and select the duration. This can disable the resident protection, whicst the service is still running (nothing is being scanned) so you re-enable the shields and have access to the UI, etc.
The bigger questions is why do you fell it necessary to do this ?
