Temporary anti-virus shutdown

I need to temporarily turn off my anti-virus program to update my back-up program. How do I do this without losing my antivirus completely?

Quick Method (System Tray Icon — Windows)

Locate the Avast icon in the Windows system tray (near the clock, bottom right corner). You may need to click the “show hidden icons” arrow.

Right-click the Avast icon.

In the menu that opens, choose Avast shields control.

Select a temporary option: Disable for 10 minutes, Disable for 1 hour, or Disable until computer is restarted.

Choose 1 hour if you don’t know how long it will take.

Confirm if a window appears asking for authorization (click Yes).

Run the update of your backup program (installer/updater).

To reactivate (if necessary):

Click the Avast icon again → Avast shields control → Enable all shields (or open Avast and activate the shields). If you selected “until restart,” they will be automatically reactivated when you restart your computer.
