It’s a shame it did not go much better in testing like the other antivirus programs like Kaspersky and Biterdefender, which is a leader in this follow-up. Although I like Avast.
It’s unfortunately Avast was compromised (in this test) however after using Avast for 20years it has passed my test: having never been infected/compromised while using Avast.
Well schmidthouse has said he has never been compromised, so the question isn’t relevant to him.
Me, when it comes to tests for vulnerabilities, I have to actually lower my defences to actually allow the test to run and there is no way I will do that. This is the reason to have multiple levels of protection over and above your AV.
As far as AV-Comparatives, it is one of the better AV testing sites. But I too believe in my own real world test as I haven’t been infected in all of the time I have had Avast installed, over 14 years.
However, I don’t simply rely on an AV or firewall for defence, you have to plan for the day that you might just get hit. This means having a robust backup and recovery strategy if the dark brown stuff ever hits the fan.
