The AAVM subsystem detected an RPC error!

I updated the free antivirus to the current version 2014.9.0.2008 and ever sinc my antivirus has always been disabled, I cannot renew my registration (even though my registraion was up to date and set to expire i July 2014). What can I do to correct this? I am using Windows 7

This error generally occur if another antivirus 1) is installed in your system or 2) was poorly uninstalled.
Which was your previous antivirus before avast?

The explanations that the installation was poor or that another AV was installed don’t cut it. I have been installing Avast in all it’s forms for many years. In the last 2 days, 2 out of 3 installations on new computers, one Win7 and one Win8 have failed with exactly this error. I have uninstalled multiple times with the Avast uninstall tool as well as Revo. Therefore, all previous traces, file and registry are removed. I have also downloaded the latest versions available for installation. Makes NO DIFFERENCE. The Avast installations continually fail.

Symptoms are:
Avast service fails to start
The AAVM error is visible when you attempt to “Change” the installation
Repair finishes without message and does nothing
Registration shows that the product is registered with 0 days remaining
Clicking on Register leads to nothing
Licenses will not install/register

I have some logs available… but this is a bit too much trouble for what it’s worth.

The end result is that the Win8 PC is being protected by Windows Defender… not my favorite option by a long stretch and the Win7 PC is being protected by AVIRA. This is a real problem that needs some attention!

I can’t see without the logs…
Please, upload (attach) the avast log:
C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Persistent Data\Avast\Logs\Setup.log
(or the Update.log) if it has more recent info.

If the file is too big for the forum, post the last 400-500 lines of it.

I agree and have had the same problem…to date.
Has this been resolved with a solution from avast as yet?
