The Ad Block is gone

Try your update again, the update to 88.1 should now be working.

Unfortunately not yet. I’ve tried updating and it still says “Avast Secure Browser is up to date Version 88.0.7977.151 (Official Build) (64-bit)”
Adblock I can live without, but the absence of Bank Mode is causing me concern.

Can you do a right-click on the Avast icon in the system tray and select it from there?

@bob3160
Thanks for the suggestion, but I’m not sure what the system tray is. If I right mouse clicked on the Avast Browser icon at the bottom of my screen and it allows me to launch a new window or to launch a new Private Mode window etc, but no Bank Mode.

Not the browser icon.
The Avast AV icon (bottom right) You may need to select show hidden icons if you don’t show all items.

@bob3160
Thanks for your attempts to help, but it’s all a bit over my head. I guess I’ll just have to wait until Avast makes the updated version more widely available.
I use their Premium Security and their Secure Line as well, but this has knocked my confidence in their products a bit.

That might happen, can I ask you for Diagnostic info, so I can check your case? You can find it in Settings => About Avast Secure Browser => Diagnostic Information.
That will help, thanks!

Kind Regards,
Olga.

Your extensions list is almost empty, Bank Mode ext is not presented. Please try a new clean installation of the Secure Browser.

[ol]- Download the installer https://www.avast.com/en-us/secure-browser

  • If you have any custom bookmarks, please save them. You can import them after the re-installation.
⋮ Menu (three dots) in the top-right corner and select Bookmarks ▸ Bookmark manager.
  • Download the Secure Browser Removal tool from here: https://download.avastbrowser.com/avast_secure_browser_uninstall.exe
  • Uninstall Secure Browser via Programs and Features - Reboot.
  • Run the removal tool - reboot.
  • Run the installer.
  • Import your favorite Bookmarks if you have them.[/ol]

Bank mode option should appear in ⋮ Menu (three dots) in the top-right corner.
Please, let me know if that helped.

Kind Regards,
Olga.

@ Olga
Wonderful!
Bank Mode is back and what’s more Ad Blocker is working as well.
Thank you for the advice, I’m very grateful. I think both feature probably disappeared when Windows updated itself recently, but I cannot be sure.
Best regards
Nick

This problem is going on for me and the browser is updated and everything to 88.1, its just seem to not want to work. I’ve also already checked in developer mode to see if I can switch it back on and still nothing. I seems to be the only thing I don’t see in the developer mode. Can anyone help me out?

I suggest you try what ‘Olga Fomicheva’ Avast team suggests in Reply #29 https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=248727.msg1585773#msg1585773
as that worked for ‘nick hf’

Thats to reinstall the browser right? If yes, I’ve already tried it didn’t change anything that I know of at least.

She suggested a clean install. not just an install.

A clean install as in completely removing the browser and reinstalling it? In that case I think I’ve done it? I defiantly gotten rid of the browser and reinstalled it after. It still has my bookmarks though. So is that suppose to happen or?

Clean install of the Secure Browser:
Maybe it’s time for a clean install of the Secure Browser
Download the installer from here, https://www.avast.com/en-us/secure-browser
Download the Secure Browser Removal tool from here, https://download.avastbrowser.com/avast_secure_browser_uninstall.exe
Save your Bookmarks via the Book Marks Manager if you have custom bookmarks so you can import them when you re-install.
Uninstall Secure Browser via Programs and Features - Reboot
Run the removal tool, reboot, run the installer import your favorites if you saved them.
A video to help with the installation: https://youtu.be/r_VLA0HMLQM
Report back if that’s solved the problem or not.
Avast has offered a separate tool to totally remove the Secure Browser if the above instructions don’t work.
You can find that tool here, https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=230288.msg1531315#msg1531315

It seemed to work for the installation process and the adblocker seemed to pop up again so. Thanks for everything, I appreciate it.

My pleasure. Happy to hear the problem is solved.

Alright how do I fix this? I just got home and noticed the adblocker is missing. It’s not even in the Privacy and Security section, or even the extensions, but bank mode is, and so is the Grammarly extension I have. I’m worried about reinstalling it to be honest.
