The Ad Block is gone

One reason why I use the avast browser is the native adblock. But he just disappeared. After a windows update it no longer works, and the icon no longer appears in the browser. How can I solve it?

You are right, after updating Secure Browser to version 88.0.7843.105 the Ad Block is missing. I hope it will be fixed soon.

diagnostic info.
Disabled extensions:
emhginjpijfggbofeediiojmdlmlkoik : Avast Passwords : 2.0.4569
ooeobdingfeedklanlfcjhffgennflke : Avast Adblock : 2.1.194

Hi guys, you can turn it back on in secure://extensions/ (Note, enable dev mode to see the extensions).

When I go to ‘secure://extensions’ and choose developer mode none of the extensions appear. Not Anti-Track, Ad Block, or any others. The screen is just blank

In Security And Privacy Center a toggle shows up for some things, but not Ad Block.

I’ve updated the browser and Windows. I reinstalled the browser and rebooted.

Any ideas why Ad Block and other extensions would still not appear?

Well my adblocker plus bank mode is gone from the browser. I reinstalled and rebooted and both are still gone. I am not sure how to fix it at all. I am not even sure if I am posting this in the right place either. Help is surly needed. My bank mode is still in my fire wall setting if I want to use bank mode I can get it that way. Still I have no ad blocker at all.

Please post your Diagnostic Information output. You can get it by visiting this link: secure://settings/diagnosticInfo
For problems with Bank Mode, also attach szb.log which is located here: C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\log

Hello. I just had this problem solved by Avast support 2 days ago. I allowed the tech remote access since I am not very tech savvy. It took him about 20 minutes. He could not determine the cause but it happened right after a windows update. He’d hope to determine a cause to pass on to their team. The support was prompt and excellent.

It isn’t gone but needs to be re-activated.
Open the Browser, select the 3 dot menu
Select more tools then select extensions
Make sure Develor Mode (top right) is toggled to ON
Now go to Avast Adblock and make sure it is turned on.

Before you allow someone remote access, check with someone first. (My personal suggestion.)

I also have the problem that the Ad blocker and Bank Mode have disappeared from my browser, and I’d be grateful for your advice.
Reading another thread, I uninstalled Avast Secure Browser and then reinstalled it about twenty minutes ago, but neither feature seems to be available.
Next I followed your instructions to see the extensions that were loaded. The only one I can see is the User Feedback one, I tried searching for Bank Mode, but without success, so I am guessing that Ad Blocker and Bank Mode are not installed. Are we supposed to download extension packs, if so from where?

I’ve reported this to Avast, lets see if that helps and to get a reply from them.

Thank you.
I wasn’t sure if I was just being stupid or not!

Stupid is to not raise a question if you have one.
I personally don’t have your problem but you appear not to be alone so it’s time for Avast to chime in.

Hi guys, it should be fixed in the latest version (88.1) of ASB.

@Asyn
I just checked on the Avast download and tried to update my browser. Both are telling me that this is the current version
Version 88.0.7977.151 (Official Build) (64-bit)
When do you envisage 88.1 becoming available?
I’m using Avast Secure VPN as well, does that complicate matters?

As you and I have already reported a problem with obtaining this update,
currently, the fix isn’t available to many of us.
Hopefully, it will be corrected soon.

Thanks all for raising this issue with us.

We are aware that for some of you Adblock has disappeared. Our engineers and QA team are working on a fix to make sure Adblock, Anti-Track and the other built-in security and privacy solutions are performing as normal.
We had identified a bug and because your safety is number one for us, we had to turn off some functionalities. Things should go back to normal shortly.

Could you please provide us with Diagnostic Information? You can find it in Settings => About Avast Secure Browser => Diagnostic Information. That will help us, thanks!

Regards,
Olga.

Nope.

Hi Olga, it might had helped to announce that in advance…!!

Especially since this seems to only affect new installs.
Our replies would certainly have been different and a lot easier to construct.

Thanks for the explanation re Adblock etc, does this also apply to Bank Mode as well?
