The Engine Contradicting itself

Hi, i always have my Avast up-to-date. My problem is since it upgraded automatically the program to 5.0.594, i cant remove any malware by scanning using the removable media scan or the Scan a folder option. It says xxxx infections but on the top it says no virus found! If you press “show results” they are noe results. If you unhide the files on the flash stick you then see the virus files, and i have to delete them manually everytime…m using USB vaccine so they dont run but i need to fix this. At least they dont hook onto my computer coz its equal to the task when it comes to jumping on board…sorry but i had to say this here.

hey and welcome to the forum have you tried a boot scan with avast?

http://www.schmahl.net/avastbootscan.php

you could also try malwarebytes antimalware for an seciond opion

good luck

In addition to what mikaelrask posted, you may want to try either:

Panda USB Vaccine - Antimalware and Vaccine for USB devices
http://www.pandasecurity.com/homeusers/downloads/usbvaccine/. It will vaccinate your USB stick, and you have the option of vaccinating your computer as well.

Flash Disinfector by sUBs from http://experi3nc3.wordpress.com/2007/05/10/flash-disinfector-by-subs/ and save it to your desktop.
· Double-click Flash Disinfector.exe to run it and follow any prompts that may appear.
· The utility may ask you to insert your flash drive and/or other removable drives including your mobile phone. Please do so and allow the utility to clean up those drives as well.
· Wait until it has finished scanning and then exit the program.
· Reboot your computer when done.
Note: Flash Disinfector will create a hidden folder named autorun.inf in each partition and every USB drive plugged in when you ran it. Don’t delete this folder…it will help protect your drives from future infection.

+1 dident think of giving a solution to the his usb memory there.
