The Package is broken

Hello

Today the message appeared ‘The Package is broken’ - Previous version 000734-1, Updated version 000734-2.

I did virus scan & Spybot scan today, nothing ugly showed up. However the Avast virus scan showed version 000734-1 (April 17) & noticed there wasn’t Resident Protection showing at all which automatically shows each time I scan (set on high).

Anything to worry about?

Have XP Windows & 4.7 Avast Home Edition (is there an updated version other than 4.7?)

Sorry 2 questions here but quite concerned about 'The Package is broken".

Please try Repair of avast installation.
Click START → CONTROL PANEL → ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS → avast! Antivirus → CHANGE/REMOVE and select REPAIR.

Sorry but couldn’t see the REPAIR option.

It’s the last (fourth) option in the icon list on the left. You might need to scroll the list to see it.
