The secure line VPN for France does not work properly

Hello, since this morning the secure line VPN for France does not work properly, if I check here for example: http://monip.fr/ I can see that I have IP address in Germany and not in France. So I cannot watch French TV anymore. Why is that?

Could be many things.

  • hardware failure on a server
  • maintenance
  • wrong setting
    etc.

If a certain server is not working (properly) you are redirected to another one that is working.

Thank you for your reply the problem was fixed but since yesterday the problem is back. When I choose the IP France in Paris, it works but in fact it connects me to an IP address in Germany you can try yourself). Anybody knows how to get a refund for my subcription because I’m using an another VPN.

Hi, i’m exactly in the same situation since yesterday
Avast tells me “connected” but it’s not a french IP

And what is your problem ?
The VPN is working.

If a certain server is not working (properly) you are redirected to another one that is working.

Wrong : it gives me a bad adress and my french websites tell me i’m not in the good area. I installed again the VPN, Avast keeps the bas adresse
I verified that it’s not a virus or hardware problem because i use it on my MacBook + iPad + iPhone and i have the same issue

A VPN is not meant to bypass geo-restrictions.
Next to the IP there are a lot more ways to “guess” your location.

So the French servers are down at the moment.
So what.
Just have patience and wait till avast has fixed things.

You don’t need to be rude or agressive in your answers.
Just think that for waiting that Avast fixes the issue i don’t need any help, and just remember that it’s not a free of charge application : when Avast asks my credit Card number, i don’t tell “Wait with patience for my payment”

When you charge you must give service or it is called tricking…

Have a nice day, and thank you for your help

Avast Moderators : Take care to your customers !

avast is giving service for their paid products through the ticket system and sometimes for their free products as well on this webboard.

Free or paid doesn’t matter to me.

Hello,

I made available update on my iphone this morning but same problem. IP address from France doesn’t work…

Would expect best service as the breakdown is known for now 3 days…

Hi,

we are working with the server provider on a fix. We estimate to have it fixed today evening. In the meanwhile, the paris location is directed to Frankfurt not break for people using unattended connections.

Jiri Horky

Thank you for you answer Jiri
Yesterday evening it worked again a few hours before to route again to Germany, We’ll wait until tonight of course
Have a nice day

Hi Eddy,

So I cannot watch French TV anymore.
It's the problem : french webtv users!!! The broadcasters, for obvious reasons of rights and piracy, block all the flows coming from outside France

You often miss important information in your instinctive reflections

I do not miss the important information here.

The blockade has nothing to do with piracy.
It is because of broadcasting rights.
Yes they are decades behind.
Sure, they should not be restricted to a country/region in this “modern time”, but that is how it is now and broadcasters and perhaps even/also governments need to change it in my opinion.

There is however already some good news.
The European government is working on a law that says that all streaming broadcasters must make the same content available in all European countries.
e.g. Netflix must broadcast the same series they now only show in Italy also in all other European countries.
In my opinion the something like that should also go for all “traditional” broadcasters.
They should either broadcast something and everyone can watch it or don’t broadcast it.
And yes, it can be for a fee or only to subscribers.

Anyway, a VPN is meant to encrypt data traffic between sender and receiver and that is working.

Hello,

Paris location should be up and running from about 01:00AM today. Enjoy and once again sorry for the troubles!

Jiri Horky

Yes you miss important informations and you have just proved it again here(Misinterpretation of the vocabulary used)

Where do you see that I’m talking about privacy rights ?
look , look , look again !!!

piracy ≠ privacy but = hacking (broadcasting rights)
So …
I do not doubt that even after my explanations, you will deny this by diverting the subject to something else.
As here when you make your wishes a reality.
Political life and lobbies are far from that

is working on a law
Still beautiful (or bad) days before us

Thanks Jiri Horky for the main and interesting information
