The Trojan won't go away

I’ve been having problems recently. I have been having problems installing software. My Microsoft Office registry keys have turned against me. And just recently Avast! has found a Trojan virus. It won’t let me log on to the internet through my primary web browser, but my Microsoft Internet Explorer is working fine.

The maleware name is Win32: Lager-Q[Trj]. I cannot delete it, or move it to the chest. Whenever I try to, a message pops up that reads “Cannot process ‘C:\Windows\system32\taskdir.dll’.” I follow the thread and I cannot find the file, despite having all hidden files shown. This is especially annoying since avast! will pop back up warning me that I have a trojan after I close out the avast! prompt.

I went to the microsoft website, and I haven’t been able to find help there. Their anitvirsus check says it has not found any virus or trojan. Good job Microsoft. I’ve tried searching for it, but the most useful information I could find about this Trojan is that avast! has recognized it as actually existing.

How do I get rid of this? Is it connected to the problems I already have?

A google search for taskdir.dll returns many hits.
A forum search will also no doubt return some hits also.

Because it is in a system folder and is likely to be in use windows will be protecting it. suggest that you schedule a boot-time scan from within avast’s menu.

If you haven’t already got this software (freeware), download, install, update and run it, preferably in safe mode. Ewido Security Suite

I have no idea if this is related to your other connection problem, what is your primary browser ?
