I have disabled Vista Firewall Control, made sure all IE extensions are enabled and disabled the HOSTS file.
Maybe Vista knows something I don’t and does not want me to have Windows 7 ;D
By the way, what is a good Free backup application?
There is an alternative which you’ll find at: http://mysharedfiles.no-ip.org/Windows7Beta/
It may take you a little longer to complete the download however.
My server isn’t as fast as M$. ;D
I have Vista Firewall Control Plus and it is quite comprehensive but it does not support my DSL modem so I am disapointed.
Did you try the free offer from Online Armor listed in the update thread ?
I found it to be an excellent firewall and a free 1 year liscense isn't bad either.
YoKenny, what kind of backup application do you want to use?
Windows has the built-in “NTBackup”, which is decent.
For windows Vista, it’s still there, but there are a few drawbacks, such as not having the ability to backup .exe files without doing a full system backup.
There are online solutions as well, but they are limited in the “free” versions. It’s located in my signature, as well as Tech’s (It’s called Mozy).
Of course there are free disk imaging products as well, but that’s for disk imaging, not file-level backups. I guess you’ll have to be more specific about what you want to do. There aren’t many free solutions to be had though, I’m afraid.
My brother is in the Army. 90% of the machines they use are nettops. A celeron or Atom processor, some memory and a network card. They boot from one central server and run over the network. Slow as molasses at the south pole.
Sure ;D
I can built an extension for that… just that I have little spare time right now: the main concept will be opening the CD drive and put the dish there, then from your USB port a cold water stream will flow… ;D
It won’t be possible to run on DELL computers and Macs ;D
A simple answer to this thead is this:
There’s nothing wrong with Vista that Windows 7 can’t cure.
;D ;D ;D Just get out your checkbook and you too can fix Vista. ;D ;D ;D
