With Vista i only have one gripe … Boot-up time ! Other than that i am very satisfied, never had a more stable OS.
I did have a slow boot time but mine was because I had to many programs starting up when the computer 1st start up.

-= Vista is great… But somehow, slower than XP & has very high requirements [esp. in gaming], moreover, I have program compatibility issues… But, on the contrary, it was a lot safer & secure than XP…
I agree, Most of the bad stuff you read about Vista is pure and simple FUD by people who like to knock Microsoft. Vista did have it’s problems in the beginning, but those were mostly fixed with SP-1.
Yes Vista requires more memory than XP, but XP required more memory than 98. This is the norm for a new OS ( With the exception of Win 7).
Why not upgrade from Vista to Windows 7 and take advantage of all the fixes that have been instituted?
The RC release is very stable, much faster than Vista. You also get to use it for almost a year before you
need to purchase the final version.

I have trouble just get use to one and staying with it. I don't have the schooling to make changes on the computer offten. when my husband and I used different computer I had to try to keep both in working. now I have just one thanks God. any changes we both have to agree to it before I try it. he always ask me about the computer and what to do and as I said I am not good at computer. my husband and I don't fight over the computer. we have not yet any way in a long time. I don't like stress and all that. so I just try to keep things simple so my husband and I can enjoy the computer. years ago computers were more user friendly I do not think that any more. I have to try to keep things as basic and simple as I can. some changes can be fun and easy I just wished it was all like that. mike like no change he says if works leave it alone. I like a few basic changes. just not a lot an one time.
thanks Sharon sham1313
if you don’t mine what was compatibility issue and was it simple fix?
thanks Sharon sham1313
my sister works at a collage in Oregon and the teg there say they are staying with XP till some thing better comes a long. I started computer in 1995 to 2000 then I did not use computers till just about a year ago. I had noting but trouble. I am not even sure every thing is how it is a suppose to be. I say that is draw 1 for windows vista and one not. ;D
Changing over from Windows XP to Vista is not a small change.
If you’re already having issues with XP, I suggest that you not make the change.
Changing will be like starting to learn using a computer all over again.
The user interface is all together different in Windows Vista.
There are also some stringent hardware requirements and possible issues to consider.
my post above I forgot to say I am using vista and I am just now learing it better. it takes me awhile I am not a good reader but I always try. I thought most of the trouble I was having was windows vista I new some for sure was my fault. I still say windows vista should be more user friendly.

I am using Vista on my Dell laptop and have no complaints. I did notice some suggesting to change to Windows 7. Is that a feasable thing to do. Is updating Vista on my Dell machine with Vista installed originally a good idea? I don’t mind paying the fee when Windows 7 is released.
I will keep my XP machines where they are as they are working with just a few seldom crashes which I can recover from easily.

Hey roro, I can’t suggest upgrading Vista to Win7 as several friends of mine had problems after the upgrade. I’ve found that doing a fresh install of a new OS is almost always better.
But, if you do want to upgrade, Paul Thurrott has a good article about it:
There you go again making me jealous.
