Please can anybody tell me the conigure in thebat 3.0 and antivir 4.6 (maybe in avast4.ini)so they work well together?
Thank you for helping me
Did you install The Bat plugin for avast?
Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > avast! antivirus > Remove
Then choose Change function in the popup window.
You must be connected to the internet while installing the plugin.
For more info into avast4.ini file, click Settings in my signature
I take it you mean thebat and avast! and not antivir which is a different AV ;D
Oh yes. shure i mean thebat and avast Ver4.6 ::).
Where can i get the pluginin for the “thebat”? And what is to do in avast4.ini ?
javascript:replaceText(’ ::)', document.postmodify.message);
Roll Eyes
It is a part of the avast program but you need to select it as Tech said.
Click the Link ‘Settings’ in the signature text below Tech’s post.
Follow my previous advices… :
Hello,
thank you for "understanding avast4.ini file.
It helps, but i have one question:
How i have to do it in this file at section “MailScanner”, if i have some more then one e-mail-accounts in thebat?
thanks for your helping
I wonder why TheBat! plugin isn’t selctable in avast! installer ???
It is - if you have TheBat! installed
Aha, tricky tricky
I had installed TheBat 3.0 before Avast.
But there is no option to select a plugin in avast- installer !
Thanks for your help
I think it may be installed by default.
Is there a plugins section in TheBat that you enable the the avast plugin for TheBat? Similar to the Outlook/Exchange plugin for MS Outlook, you have to enable the plugin within the email client.
Edit: Just found this in a forum search, which sort of follows what I said above.

Yes i have found the plugin in thebat.
And it works. Fine! For my Standard-Account
But i like to configure the scan for more then one account, maybe the 1. for aol and 2. gmx and 3. web.de .
How i have to do it in the avast.ini-File?
Thankyou for your help.

I don’t know how the Bat plug-in works but I would have thought it would work with multiple accounts. I shouldn’t think you will need to change anything in the avast4.ini file because that is just the default account and not the only account, in the same way you would have a default account in the Bat.
However, I not sure about AOHell accounts as I think they use a diferent protocol to standard email?
Hallo DavidR,
okay, but if i set in TheBat the SMTP - and the POP3-Adressses to 127.0.0.1 i must tell Avast, where are the realy Adresses for the Server is.
The Default-Adress(avast.ini) ist for the first account and where is my second and maybe the third account-adress ?
I hope i have it explained well?!
Thank you
I believe you don’t need to do that, as I said the default address in avast4.ini is just saying if it is need to send email from within avast (if you want email notification of a detected virus sent to someone or you wish to send a virus from the avast chest to avast!), use this SMTP default address.
This has nothing to do with the normal sending or receipt of email in your email program. You set up your accounts within the Bat as normal.
Hallo DavidR,
thank you for your answer.
I have tried in “thebat” with the normal SMTP-Server-Address and also with the POP-Server-Address for the first account.
The same i had done with my second account from another ISP.
And at this case the emails comes in and goes out, but are not scanned by avast.
In avast4.ini-file is under section [MailScanner] also in the line "DefaultSMTPServer /DefaultPOPServer my first account.
So if i tried this way: Setting in “TheBat” the SMTP/POP-Address to 127.0.0.1, it works (scanned by avast) only for the first account witch is included in the [MailScanner]-Section.
I think i must find a way, to tell avast where is my second account-address.
Maybe i am on an woodpath, but do you have some more idea?
I believe there must be a way as there are a few forum members who use the Bat and they probably have multiple email accounts.
I’m sorry I have only a very, very limited experience of the Bat, I tried it a long time ago and from threads in the forums. Perhaps a PM to them and see how they have set up their email and see if that resolves it. If so perhaps you can post it back here.
You can see who is using the Bat from the thread I gave you before - http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=6242.0
