@Theoffice Remote Access

Hello all, I downloaded the free version of avast in the hopes that it would remove a program called @Theoffice Remote access from my PC. I used to have Mcafee and i did not renew because that did not remove the program either. Anyway, the free version of avast did not remove it or even alerted me to it. The only program that keeps finding it is Advanced System Optimizer. It finds it but does not remove it. When I do a search on the program it looks like it’s something that you have to install on your PC so that you can access it remotely. Problem is that I did not install it. I have sent emails to the company asking how I can remove it but have yet to get a response. I have already checked in the add/remove programs and there is nothing there. Any help would be appreciated.

If this is a legit program (I have never heard of it) as some google hits seem to confirm, http://www.google.com/search?q=%40Theoffice+Remote+access, then it wouldn’t be detected and surely there would be a add remove programs entry for in so it can be uninstalled.

Some systems, especially those from the likes of Dell, HP and other manufactures come with software pre-installed, some provide something like this to be able to remotely access your system if you contact them with a support problem.

Advanced System Optimizer is another application I know nothing about, but I’m wary about the worth of so called System Optimizer applications. I also wonder when/why optimizer applications detected malware, if that is indeed what it is doing.

So what is Advanced System Optimizer saying is wrong with it ?

Thanks for the response. Advanced system optimizer has a feature that runs an antispyware program that always find something on my PC. Usually trojans and dialers. It’s weird because I always had Mcafee installed and it never picked up any of that stuff. My computer is about 5 yrs old and I routinely run mcafee scans and the ASO antispyware. I have never seen the @office program on my PC before. My thought was that maybe someone installed it without me knowing and I want to remove it so I 1st went to add/remove programs and I don’t see it there. I guess maybe the program is not really doing anything. Maybe I have to launch it or something. My PC did speed up a lot once I ran the trial version of Avast so I’m considering purchasing the full version. I have a screen shot of the results that I copy pasted using Word. I need to figure out how to post it.
Thanks

It would be helpful if you answered this question - So what is Advanced System Optimizer saying is wrong with it ?

Personally I would stick with known good anti-spyware applications, than a bolt-on extension to a system optimizer. Like SuperAntiSpyware and or MalwareBytes (SAS), AntiMalware (MBAM), both of which have free versions without resident protection. These two applications are currently two of the pest anti-spyware/malware applications.

Don’t worry about reported tracking cookies they are a minor issue and not one of security, allow SAS to deal with them though. - See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTTP_cookie.

avast also includes anti-spyware within the program.
