Speed tests comparing my connection speeds with AVAST both enabled and disabled.
Repeated each test five times… not a glitch.

Sadly, it’s time for me to find a different anti-virus program.
I’m curious, what OS and Avast version number are you using?

Is this test using java ?
The way to test it is to download a big file like winxp sp3 and time it, then disable your AV and do it again

No Java installed. Speed test here:

Large files were clearly downloading much slower, which prompted the test.

I don’t have any issue with my broadband as my download is pretty quick at 19.00 Mb/s during the day.

Strange - I have just got my best results - I suspect that my ISP have upped the fibre download speed, the the upload speed is the same (that would need a modem/router upgrade).
Previously I used to get on average 37Mbps download and the same 1.6-1.73 upload.
