I have been using Avast on other home PC’s for a while, but just recently switched to it on my personal PC. I’m using Thunderbird for my e-mail which has been working great until I installed avast. (I’ve been using NAV until now).
If there are more than one e-mail messages being downloaded, I get the first one, but I get a Thunderbird pop-up error that reads “Unable to write the email to the mailbox. Make sure the filesystem allows you write privileges, and you have enough disk space to copy the mailbox.”
If I leave this pop-up alone, about a minute later an Avast pop-up displays that reads “Internet connection timeout elapsed. Continue Waiting? (thunderbird.exe → pop.perfora.net:110)”
First off, I have no idea where the pop.perfora.net comes from, its not my email server. But more to the point is that everything works fine if I disable the email scanning by Avast. This is obviously not a good solution. Nav worked fine with the e-mail scanning with thunderbird, but I’m tired of calling to reset my install count every time I format my PC. Naturally, that is the “lesser of the evils” if I can’t get Avast to work properly.
Has anyone experienced this problem or know why this is occurring? Thanks.
