Thunderbird

I am using thunderbird as my email client but I can’t get Avast to stop scanning when I open Thunderbird, when new emails are being downloaded, or when I click on an email in my inbox. When I do anything with Thunderbird, Avast starts scanning. Avast is slowing my email process dramatically. I’ve tried adding the following two paths by highlighting Standard Shield and then clicking on Customize and then clicking on the Advanced tab; it did not help. Does someone know how to get Avast to stop scanning when it comes to Thunderbird.

c:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Thunderbird\

c:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird\

  1. Is the Standard Shield’s sensitivity set to High level? I have heard that the High sensitivity indeed causing big slowdowns with Thunderbird, because of the way it handles the mail storage file.

  2. The way you’re specifying the exceptions is not correct. You need to use a wildcard, such as

c:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Thunderbird*
c:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird*

Thanks
