Time Change Synchronization Problem on Windows Vista

As some of you all aware, we just had the Time Change take place here in the USA … in most states anyway.
Lo & behold, this morning the clock on my computer with Windows Vista was FIVE hours off! :o
The minutes were correct, but the hour was exactly 5 hours ahead. What the heck?

I checked and the Time Zone is set to the correct one.
I changed the time manually and it accepted it.
But, when I click on the Button to “Update Now” to synchronize the time with windowstime.com or whatever it is, I get an error. I then even tried one of the other Internet Time sources with which to synchronize my clock, but I get an error there as well.

Any ideas on why the clock on my computer moved ahead 5 hours instead of 1 with the Time Zone setting being correct?

While just about all the Critical Windows Updates are installed on this computer … none of the Optional Windows Updates have been installed yet. I don’t know. Maybe the absence of one of those Optional Updates could have possibly caused the Time Change problem and the failure to synchronize the time with Internet Time.

Hmmm??? In reading the Help section, if I am not mistaken, the Internet Time Synchronization function is considered … a Gadget?
Maybe that’s why it doesn’t work if Windows / Microsoft is going to do away with the Gadgets platform?

I never used Synchronization because they are a real pain in the bare arse nowdays
