When I’ve tried to set my time forum to , the answer was Please try again. If you come back to this error screen, report the error to an administrator. I’m doing so :
I set mine up using the off-set (+1 on GMT) rather than auto detect (I also thought there was an auto check the adjust for daylight saving time), and that worked fine.
But I just set it to 0 and changed the profile and it dropped the time back by one hour, I then clicked (auto detect) and it correctly set it to 1 and set the forum time to match local time. No errors.
Don’t know. The easiest workaround is to set the correct offset manually. NaN is not-a-number and db probably does not like it. (Because I’m always lost on these offsets, I consult www.greenwichmeantime.com)
No, you’re not using auto detect. You’re using -1 hour.
My posts are related to auto detect that does not work. The thread is about it.
Auto detect is auto detect, you know, automatic detection of the off-set, not manual, not fixed.

Acknowledgment of the problem.
Not solution.
The forum software is buggy, it does not do what it is supposed to do. I have tons of examples…
Back button does not work as back button, for instance (http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=39544.0).
Read my post, I did try that, I first set it to 0 to set it to no off-set and clicked change profile.
I then clicked the auto detect and it (auto detect) inserted 1 into the window and when I clicked the change profile, it adjusted the time so it matched local time, so ‘yes’ it did work on auto detect for me.
The last time they upgraded the software here, I found I’d been reset to GMT, which I guess is default (I’m in US/Canada Eastern time, GMT -5). But clicking on auto-detect worked fine for me, and there’s been I’ve had no problems since.
And that is correct, it isn’t a problem for me, it is a problem for you, but that doesn’t mean it is a problem for every one as you stated (below), and it is also working for MikeBCda, so I don’t know why it isn’t working for you.
the auto detect is working just fine for me. Here in North America daylight saving time changes are on different dates than those in Europe and I would imagine that yours are too. So in the “gap period” I have to override the auto detect to see correct forum times.
I last used it in November when the US and Europe were “in sync” again and auto detect sets the correct time difference.
I just tested it again and it is working for me. I suspect that this is a database problem in the Simple Machines deployment. I am guessing that it needs to look up the time zone stored in your system settings and your time zone for Brazilian summer time is not being located.
However you are not alone with the problem. It seems to be a long standing bug reported in the Simple machines forum for more than two years.
I really would love to drop this (and will after this), but what you are saying simply isn’t correct, as for the only two avast users that have responded have not had a problem with the auto detect function, so it ‘is working for us.’
In all of this all I have been talking of is my experience and that is ‘it’s working for me.’
Nope, the problem is not in the database.
Problem is in the Javascript. After clicking “auto detect”, it compares your local time to the server time and fills in the number in the field. If it returns NaN, it means that there is a problem computing the number and database correctly refuses that.
It’s not working for me either, I’d suspect it may be some regional setting, maybe it works for ‘western’ kind of dates only?
