Hi, I am new to this forum. I had been using the u3 version of avast and decided to use the Home desktop version. I registered about 16 hours ago and still have not received an email with the key. I registered again about 2 hours ago and no reply yet. I would have thought it would not take that long since it is done by robot. Is this normal and I need to just wait? What do I do if I get two emails with keys, just ignore the second one? Does anyone have an opinon on upgrading the professional version? Thanks and Hello to everyone, slybo
Please make sure that the messages are not discarded by a spam filter somewhere. Yes, they are sent by a robot, so you should have received it already.
I use AOL and the spam filters are off. Would using AOL to access the site make a difference like should I use Internet Explorer and try again? Thanks for the reply slybo
Since you said I should have got my email by now I decided to register by going to the avast web site with Internet Explorer, Road Runner. I got my email within 2 minutes. I have put in the key and everything is ok. The first two times I was using AOL to go to the web site, this is not the first time I have had this type of problem with AOL and I should have thought of it sooner. What is strange is I used my AOL email address and it went there with no problem, just had to use Road Runner Internet Explorer to register. Of course maybe it just took that long but I believe it was because of AOL. Thanks for your help. Also do you have anything to say about upgrading to the professional version? Also I have seen a number of sites say you have to use internet explorer, maybe that should post that on the avast register page. Thanks slybo

The pro version is more flexible and has a number of additional features, however, the home and pro version use the same scanning engine and signatures. You need to base your decision on your needs, avast Home V Avast Pro differences http://www.avast.com/eng/av4_version_comp.html
Any mention to avast needing IE relates to the fact that windows help files use IE to display them, other than that avast doesn’t have a problem with many of the main stream browsers, Firefox, Opera, IE, Maxthon, Avant, etc.
The only fly in the ointment so to speak is AOHell when using their proprietary programs that don’t conform to the usual standards, namely their email program which uses a different protocol to other email programs.
What do you want to know? 8)
I wanted to know if it was worth purchasing but never mind I went ahead and purchased it and now have avast professional running. I did have Norton and it will take some time to get use to the advanced interface, a lot more options. Thanks for your reply. slybo
Great choice, and have fun with it ;D
